Fernando Albericio
Fernando Albericio has currently a triple appointment as: Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona and Group Leader at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona)in Spain, and Research Professor at the University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa.
His major research interests cover practically all aspects of peptide synthesis and combinatorial chemistry methodology, as well as synthesis of peptides and small molecules with therapeutic activities.
He has published over 650 papers, several review articles, and 47 patents, and he has co-authored 3 books.
He is currently Editor of the International Journal of Peptide Research and Therapeutics, Amino Acids and Future Medicinal Chemistry. He is also member of the editorial board of several journals.
He received:
- the Leonidas Zervas Award (European Peptide Society, 1994)
- the Research Chair (Generalitat of Catalonia, 2004)
- Doctor Honoris Causa (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2010)
- the Vincent du Vigneaud Award (American Peptide Society, 2011).
