Lipid mediators or biologically active lipids play an important physiological role & have been associated with many diseases and signaling. There are several classes of compounds in both the classic and non-classic eicosanoid families. They exert complex control over many bodily systems; mainly in growth during and after physical activity, inflammation or immunity after the intake of toxic compounds and pathogens, and as messengers in the central nervous system. The networks of controls that depend upon eicosanoids are among the most complex in the human body.

The detection and quantitation has historically posed a problem for researchers due to sensitivity requirements and stability. A solution will be shown for the simultaneous detection and quantitation for 158 of lipid mediators using UHPLC and a sensitive triple quadrupole mass spectrometer for the validation of these biomarkers cohorts of biological samples.
